CMS has announced new HCPCS codes for ostomy products
to take effect January 1, 2003. The changes include
elimination of the add-on 'K' codes for pouch features
implemented April 1, 2002, and the addition of several
new codes. Reimbursement will change after January
1 as a result of the eliminated codes for pouch
features such as odor-proof material and comfort
panel. However, there will be a 3-month grace period
in which the codes from April, 2002 can be used
for billing.
